Homelands Collection
Over time, our sense of home can grow to embrace more than one place. The place where we began always holds its meaning, while others become part of us through the lives we build, the experiences we have, and the people we become.
That is where the idea for **Homelands** began. Three fragrances exploring three stages of a journey: our beginnings, the experiences that shape us, and finding a place where our dreams can become reality. For me, those chapters unfolded across Egypt, Australia, and the UAE.
Motherland Beginnings
The story begins in Egypt. With Motherland Beginnings, I wanted to express the warmth, tenderness, and security of our earliest sense of home—a feeling close to a mother’s embrace.
I chose to work with perfumer Shadi Samra on this fragrance. Shadi is originally from Syria, and the cultural closeness between Egypt and Syria, including so many familiar details of everyday life, made me feel he would understand the emotion I had in mind and interpret it in his own way.
Egyptian jasmine and Egyptian geranium play a central role, alongside orange, mango, and fig. These are scents I associate with Egypt, and together they helped us build that feeling of warmth and familiarity. My hope was to express something people could connect with, even if they had never been there.
Crafted Pathways
Crafted Pathways reflects my years in Australia—a time of gaining experience, exploring possibilities, and finding the courage to make decisions. Some worked out; others became lessons. Each helped shape who I am.
I worked on this fragrance with perfumer Rasei Fort, whose connection to Australia and familiarity with its landscape made him a natural choice to interpret this chapter. This collaboration also holds a special significance: Crafted Pathways was the first fragrance Rasei created for a perfume house outside his own.
Fig, grape, red wine, and rum notes express the more adventurous side of that experience, while green notes, including eucalyptus, evoke the natural surroundings. I wanted the composition to bring together the character of the place and the spirit of that period in my life.
Haven At Last
The UAE represents the chapter in which I began to see my dream become reality. It is also where I met Rasei Fort and Shadi Samra. As both live there, creating this fragrance with them felt especially meaningful. Each brought his own experience of the place and his own perspective to the composition.
Haven At Last marked the first time either Rasei or Shadi had created a fragrance in collaboration with another perfumer. Each contributed his sensibility and experience to a fragrance inspired by the place that brought the three of us together.
The idea is about finding a place where you have the opportunity to build the dream you have been working towards. We chose oud for its depth and its connection to the region, giving it a spicy gourmand character that brings together warmth, spice, and sweetness.
That sweetness was part of the idea itself: the sweetness of seeing something you have dreamed of finally take shape, after all the experiences and steps that brought you there.
Homelands began with my own journey, but the feeling behind it may be familiar to anyone who has found a sense of belonging in more than one place, with each becoming part of what home means to them.
